At the end of last year, Russ Kane picked his choice of the top 10 Texas wines for 2009. Russ Kane is a writer who is “in search of the mysterious Texas Terroir.” One of those wines, the 2008 Vermentino from Mandola Estate Winery (www.MandolaEstateWinery.com), has grapes that we grew in it. Here is a post I wrote about our 2008 wines from Mandola Winery.

Mandola Vermentino 2008

Russ describes the Vermentino as “olden straw colored and lightly aromatic white from the grape of the same name native to Italy, mostly in the regions of Liguria and Tuscany and on the island of Sardinia. It makes for a bright, golden-colored white wine, with fruity aromas and bright acidity.” You can read his post about the Vermentino here on his web site blog . Russ has lots of great information on his web site at http://vintagetexas.com/blog/ or you can read about him at www.vintagetexas.com .

We had this Vermentino just Sunday night with friends and family at our home for dinner. I’ll try to get a post up about the wine pairings that we did.

Blessings, Betty
