Three Expressions of Texas High Plains Carignan
International Carignan Day celebrates a remarkable grape with deep Mediterranean roots and a wonderful affinity for food. At Bingham Family Vineyards, we’re celebrating with three expressions of Carignan, all grown in our family vineyards in the Texas High Plains AVA.
From our 2021 Carignan and its award-winning character to our 2021 Estate Reserve and refreshing 2025 Rosé of Carignan, each offers a different way to appreciate this versatile grape.
What Makes Carignan Special?
Carignan (pronounced care-in-yen) has a long history in European wine regions, particularly Spain and Southern France.
Known for its lively acidity, red-fruit character, and savory qualities, Carignan is especially enjoyable alongside food. Its structure and versatility make it a lovely companion to roasted meats, poultry, Mediterranean dishes, and richly seasoned vegetables.
Here in the Texas High Plains, we grow Carignan as part of our diverse estate vineyards, producing wines that express both the grape and our Texas growing region.

2021 Carignan

Our 2021 Carignan offers expressive fruit and floral notes complemented by sweet oak spice. Its velvety fruit character, satiny texture, and lingering red-fruit finish make it a wonderful wine to enjoy with a meal.
Try it with: Herb-roasted chicken, mushroom risotto, duck, lamb, or fresh garden ratatouille.

2021 Reserve Carignan

Our 2021 Reserve Carignan presents another expression of the grape, with aromas of ripe red fruit, sweet oak, and caramelized notes, supported by hints of coffee and forest floor. Medium-plus in body, with silky tannins and balanced acidity, this dry red is particularly inviting alongside richer, savory dishes.
Try it with: Braised meats, roast pork, spiced poultry, lamb meatballs, or mushroom risotto.
2025 Rosé of Carignan
Dry Rosé Wine | Texas High Plains
Carignan isn’t limited to red wine. Our 2025 Rosé of Carignan offers a third expression of this estate-grown grape, presented as a beautiful dry rosé.
