Well once again Newsom Grape Day was a very delightful as well as educational event. It was held at the – where else, but Newsom Vineyards. There were many good speakers provided by AgriLIFE Extention Service.

There was also a wide variety of Texas wines to taste and enjoy. The number doubled from this after everyone got there. Hmmm, did everyone come for the educational speakers or for the great wine?

One of the speakers was a special treat, Commissioner Todd Staples. He talked about the importance of agriculture to Texas’ healthy economy, which of course includes growing wine grapes and making wine.

Then Todd and his wife, Janet, stayed and ate a wonderful barbecue dinner with us. The dinner was cooked up by our neighbor Randy Beasley.

After lunch some of my favorite guys got together here with Commissioner Staples.

Todd Staples and his wife, Janet, are really friendly people. They were fun to visit with.

Now who do we have here? Looks like a couple of people that should be off planning their wedding instead of playing around all day. O’well it will all get done sometime. Hopefully, right?

Actually Newsom Grape Day isn’t even over yet. We still have dinner and looking at the stars to go.

Blessings,
Betty
