Wine tasting is a fascinating journey that allows you to explore your senses and preferences. In this class, you will cover the basics of wine tasting and understanding your own palate better. Throughout the class, you will engage in interactive tastings, discussions, and exercises to enhance your understanding and appreciation of wine.

This class will be available on the first and second Sundays for the month of September at 6:30 pm in our Grapevine location.

Each month you will focus on a different aspect of our wine profile quiz to help you discover which wines to explore next. Those aspects include: sweetness, intensity, fruit, oak, spice, floral, acidity, and minerality.

Fruit for August
The month of September will focus on “fruit”. Wine flavors come from aroma compounds —stereoisomers, as scientists call them— that are released during fermentation. This is why when you smell wine, the alcohol volatilizes (evaporates into the air) and carries these lighter-than-air aroma compounds into your nose.
Each wine can contain hundreds of different aroma compounds and each compound can have a different effect on the wine’s flavor. Our brains have multiple response to one stereoisomer. For example, the lychee fruit flavor in Gewürztraminer can also smell like roses.
