National Red Wine Day – 2024
August 28 All day
Celebrate the day with Bingham Family Vineyards Texas Wine
August 28, 2024
The informative wine web site “Wine Folly” reminds us that August 28, 2024, is to be celebrated as National Red Wine Day. A great day for exploring the wide range of red grapes grown in the Texas High Plains AVA.
Celebrating National Red Wine Day with estate Texas wines from Bingham Family Vineyards is a delightful way to honor this special occasion. Located in the Texas High Plains AVA, Bingham Family Vineyards offers a diverse selection of red wines crafted from grapes grown in our own vineyards. This region’s unique climate and soil conditions produce exceptional wines that reflect the distinct characteristics of each grape variety. For a robust and classic choice, you can enjoy our 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its rich flavors of dark fruits and hints of oak, making it a perfect pairing with grilled meats or hearty stews. Or our classic 2019 Dugout which is red Bordeaux style blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Franc. This oak aged for two years wine is bold and complex like the frontier.
Texas Dolcetto and Texas Graciano Wine
For those looking to explore something unique, the vineyard’s Dolcetto or Graciano wines provide an exciting departure from more common varieties. Dolcetto, typically found in Italian wines, offers bright fruit flavors and a smooth finish, ideal for sipping on a warm Texas evening. Graciano, a lesser-known Spanish grape, brings a spicy and aromatic profile that pairs wonderfully with spicy dishes or aged cheeses. These wines showcase the versatility and innovation of Bingham Family Vineyards in cultivating a wide array of grape varieties that thrive in the Texas climate.
Bingham grows twelve red wine grapes including Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Dolcetto, Graciano, Merlot, Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Tannat, Tempranillo. and Teroldego. Making each into a varietal wines as the grapes are available as well as blending those to make some traditional as well as some Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Dolcetto, Graciano, Merlot, Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Tannat, Tempranillo. and Teroldego. Texas wine blends.
Texas Tempranillo and Texas Merlot Wine
No celebration of National Red Wine Day would be complete without sampling the vineyard’s Tempranillo and Merlot. Tempranillo, with its deep, earthy flavors, and smooth tannins, is a staple of Spanish winemaking that has found a second home in Texas. It’s a perfect match for barbecued dishes and Tex-Mex cuisine. Meanwhile, Merlot offers a softer, fruit-forward experience with notes of plum and cherry, making it an excellent choice for those new to red wines or looking for a versatile option to pair with a variety of foods. By celebrating with Bingham Family Vineyards’ wines, you not only enjoy high-quality, locally-produced wines but also support a family-owned business dedicated to sustainable and innovative winemaking practices.

You many notice a few new label designs in the array in the photo above. We have our flagship label with Grancy’s farm scene drawing on it as well as our black and gold reserve wine label. But we now have our special labels for our Blake Eddie Scholarship dry red wine which is a wine and label exclusive to HEB, as well as a new label design exclusively for our wine to be sold at Costco. We have two new releases to be sold at Costco at the new Costco in Tomball, Texas. We have two new releases to be sold there. One being our “Texas Tribute” which is a Tempranillo red wine blend. There will also be a white wine blend called “Texas Sunshine” which is a white wine blend with Roussanne. More on that in an upcoming post. We also have a new label that will be used on our wine blends sold in other retail store. Can’t wait to see that one, right?
