We have had some good rains in the last couple of weeks. Good rains for both our organic row crops as well as our vineyards. In the vineyards, the rains have developed a good canopy of leaves to bring nourishment to the grape crop for the year.

The row crops are mixed with some crops starting and some finishing. Cliff took me out on a ride to check on the fields this afternoon to see some of our vineyards and fields. It is work that he loves.

Several of our organic fields have been planted with cotton which is now sprouting.

If you dig down a little ways and look really close, you can see these plants.

Cliff is checking to see how many seeds have sprouted and what the spacing is for the plants.

Then he checks another spot.

A rain would help the little plants come up on their own. If it doesn’t rain, then we will use tractors to rake the surface of the ground just enough to help them push out into the sunshiny world.

The organic wheat on the other hand needs the humidity to go down caused by the recent rains. In a few days, we can harvest the wheat … if it doesn’t rain again.

But then if it does rain, that will be good for the emerging cotton plants. Hmmm, not sure what we should pray for today.

Cliff brings home buckets of wheat for us to make our daily bread with. A little wine from the vineyards goes well with that.

As we pray for rain and for dry weather, we most of all pray for God’s will as well as his blessings. We pray the same for all of our friends and neighbors as well. May your day be brighter because of your work as well as the work of other. But most of all from the blessings from God.

Blessings,
Betty
