We had a wonderful and awe inspiring view of the solar eclipse at our Hye, Texas, tasting room. But more than an amazing view, we had a great time with some old friends and some new friends.

Our family was blessed to watch the Total Solar Eclipse on 4/8/2024 at a party the Bingham Family hosted at their tasting room. They limited the reservations so it was not a humongous group event with rows of Porta-potties like at the other vineyards we passed on the road.
They provided wine, charcuterie and lunch which were all delicious. My husband’s favorite wine was the red blend named Dirt Farmer.
Our granddaughters made friend with the several other children playing the lawn games thoughtfully provided.
Two of the daughters provided perfect music to view an eclipse with a cello and violin duet. We watched short glimpses of the eclipse thru breaks in the clouds as it progressed. As totality approached, the sky darkened like dusk and the many birds stopped singing.
Then, with all the guests and the Bingham family and staff watching, a break in the clouds let us watch over 1 minute of totality. Everyone cheered. It was a perfect way to view the eclipse with a family who now seems more like friends.
